Duke hadn't surrendered a home run all season with the Twins—45 games pitched, 44 hits, no homers. Then, in his first appearance since being traded to Seattle, he served up a two-run bomb in the ninth inning to longtime Mariner villain Josh Reddick. He did not exactly a make a good first impression.

That said, Duke could serve a valuable purpose for the M's the rest of the way; since converting to relief in 2012, his numbers have been respectable (3.30 ERA, 287 Ks in 281 innings) and he fits the mold for a lefty-specialist. But so far he's yet to show anything positive whatsoever since putting on a Seattle jersey, and he doesn't have much time left to turn things around.
