Ichiro is back again.
Retired for all of a month, the Mariners legend has returned under the title he had last season—special assistant to the chairman—but will function as a coach for both the Major League and Triple-A clubs, giving instruction on playing the outfield, baserunning, and, of course, hitting.
Ichiro will reportedly be with the Mariners for most or all of their remaining home games, easing into his new role coaching in pregame drills and strategy sessions. When the M's are on the road, he will spend time teaching players in Tacoma.
